If i had the money to hire a lawyer or have a good doctor, it's obvious, I wouldn't need to bother with ssi.

I got denied after 3 years in Arkansas! I want to go to federal court! The letter I received back! Said I could work as a security gard or work in a factory! My lawyer didn't provide medical correctly that I've given them! The SSDI doctor wasn't even at my hearing! I have COPD, Nerve damage in my L4-L5, I've had back surgery one time! I had another MRI over a year from surgery and the doctor said I'd have to have surgery again! But the SSDI doctors say I can work! I have Reynolds sendrom too! And a Heart problems! Lots of medications! It's like my lawyer is working for the judge! I'm applying for my appeal! It's like SSDI wants me to kill myself or something! (I don't know)

When you're injured, you can't work. No money. No medical care. You can't wrack up medical debt hoping and praying a broken system will cut you a break. It's insanity.

  • no no -

Mr. Castelli. When I got injured on the job. I was told it was pre-existing but she refused to tell me what it was because "I might use it against her in court". "Follow up with your private doc." Private doc gives meds for symptoms but doesn't determine etiology. And he redirects your questions. Constantly redirecting. They also follow the lead of medicare (I didn't have medicare) Without etiology, I didn't qualify for SSDI because I lacked Objective Medical Evidence. When I went outside of the HMO/medicare system (absolute crap) the judge deemed it "subjective" even though the evidence was from a doctor. It was also common to hold you up for years and years. When (and if) you got a win the back pay felt like the lottery (I didn't qualify). This hides the fact that the actual money you receive is not enough to survive on. The local paper at the time did a front page special for a week about folks who died (literally died) waiting for their SSDI claim to go through. I keep hearing about single payer is the answer. Every time my wife's insurance denies my coverage on something, they differ to the medicare standard. We're not on medicare. SINGLE PAYER IS MEDICARE. CRADLE TO GRAVE MEDICARE. The lemon dance this government puts you through is designed to grind you down to nothing. The doctors take orders from insurance. The insurance dictates what medicines will be prescribed, which tests will be given, which procedures are allowed. The insurance companies practice medicine, not the doctors. The doctors are nothing more than glorified nurses at war with the insurance companies. The rest of us are just chumps.

I went for a medical exam which felt more like a physical and lasted 5 minutes lol I’m applying bc I have 21q deletion syndrome what was the point of the consultation if he is not a gene doctor lol he didn’t know what the fuck the syndrome was I had to explain to him and he pretty much goggled it … god my syndrome is rare and it’s more of findings you have from it rather than an specific issue … why do they even bother with this medical exams lol wouldn’t the medical records I provided be enough lol if they didn’t know about the syndrome why not send me to gene doctor rather than a basic general practice doctor … if I lose I would have to appeal

I won ssi at the hearing got a 2+ hour phone call 5 months later for a review. I had previously stated that i had a verbal agreement to repay my landlord for letting me stay in his home for almost 3 years basically rent free due to severe physically disability. During the call i was asked if i wasn't awarded ssi benefits and back pay would my landlord sue me. I responded why would he go pay to file a lawsuit against me if i didn't get it. So i responded NO he would not sue me. So because of that they took the majority of my back pay. So now i am taking my landlord to a formal hearing so he can say thaw he wants his money that they collected for my back rent. I was suppose to receive close to $16 grand after paying the lawyer and dshs for the monthly stipend. I was left with barely $6 grand. I feel like i was deceived then robbed.

I have read a lot pf these posts and saying they are really disabled but got denied, IF YOU ARE UNDER A DOCTORS CARE WHEN YOU FILE AND THAT DOCTOR WRITES A LETTER STATING YOUR SICKNESS AND THAT HE FEELS THAT YOU CANNOT WORK WITH YOUR ILLNESS YOU WILL GET APPROVED!!! IF YOU ARE DENIED THEN YOUR FILE CONTAINS SOMETHING IN IT ARE THEY WATCHED YOU AFTER YOU FILED AND SEEN YOU DO SOMETHING YOU SAID YOU CANNOT DO THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT THEY SPY ON PEOPLE ESPECIALLY NOW. THEY ALSO TALK TO FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS YOU WILL NOT KNOW. SO IF YOU ARE TRULY DISABLED AND YOUR DR LISTED YOUR DISABLING ILLNESS AND SAID YOU CANNOT WORK THEY HAVE TO APPROVE YOU . IF THAT ILLNESS IS NOT ON THEIR LIST OF DISABILITIES THEN DR NOTE ARE NOT YOU WILL BE DENIED. IT ALSO DEPENDS WHAT TYPE OF JOB YOU DID BEFORE YOUR DISABLING ILLNESSES. IF YOU NEVER WORKED HOW DO YOU KNOW THERE ISNT SOMETHING YOU CAN DO ? ALSO IF THERE IS MEDICATION YOU CAN TAKE THAT HELPS YOUR ILLNESSES I KNOW THIS MAKES A LOT OF YOU ANGRY BUT SOCIAL SECURITY HAS A SET OF QUALIFYING ILLNESS'S THOSE ONES YOU SAY ARE DISABLED AND DOING BETTER THAN YOU ? MAYBE THEY HAVE AN INCURABLE ILLNESS LIKE AIDS. AND FOR THE FAKING ONES THEY WILL GO TO PRISON ONCE THEY ARE CAUGHT . TURN THEM IN BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOLID EVIDENCE BEFORE SOCIAL SECURITY WILL INVESTGATE.

I was actually approved for two different disabilities with two different dates. first they told me that I won my case back to will just say 2013. then the next time she tells me she doesn't know what I'm talking about that they found my date of disability to be in 2016.

  • Creative Mind -

Question why do you have to have a lawyer to say and show the same paper work I would show??

  • Walkin Bonita -

Leaning on them when they cut a person off can also prove to be destructive. Try to stay free financially. Stress can ruin one's health on top of other things. They don't care.

  • Wendy Davis -

You also need recent medical records (6 months).

At 59, I ended up without a job and in a county social services dept asking for mtg assistance. The paperwork I was presented had "unemployable" checked off and the notary who placed signature for lien on home instructed me to sign up for SSDI and SSI, noting that one takes longer than the other and so I should sign up for both. I did.

Had psych eval today, 2 days after finding out my mtg is now in 2nd month of delinquency; I missed a date (medical results) and cried like a baby, i mean I was wailing, due to that issue. I have ability to work at my job at home and do not have ability to work at a restaurant. I am 59 and have 38 year work history (paid into SS 97000.00 myself, plus emp match in the same ballpark).

This personnel, I find, have an attitude and I can see that they could destroy a person's life should they chose. I sense trouble and want to back out now. I have not seen a doctor in 6 yrs due to no ins. I believe this itself will be the reason I am denied so again, I ask myself, what am I doing here?

The procedure was not thoroughly explained to me, assumptions were made. I never said I was too ill to work, but I cannot stand, walk long distances, lift, blah blah blah, I AM 59 YRS OLD.

I spent so much time pursuing this when I could have been figuring out how to move out and get the house sold (equity in it) so yeah, driving applicants crazy with frustration and negligence is beginning to reveal itself. I am numb with fear and all alone. I cannot imagine how I will survive if house is auctioned off and I lose 20 years of investment in this home which I love.

Who do you turn to when you get denied time and time again but clearly qualify. Drs aren't documenting and when I mentioned it he yelled at me for over 14 min about how I can't tell him how to do his job( recorded by my kid btw) his nurse practitioner and himself lied on some of my records said they did things they never did. Even the judge didn't have her facts straight told me on my denial letter being over weight wasn't a excuse ummm I'm 104 lbs not 160 like she stated. My lawyers have been blatantly lazy I haven't worked since 2011 have multiple issues physical and mental memory issues. I mean who protects you when the ones you trust aren't doing their job NOW ALL MY WORK CREDITS ARE GONE. I heard you could request a judge to reopen your old case I wish. I'm diagnosed bipolar 1 mixed rapid cycling with psychosis, (blood clotting issue)positive lupus anticoagulant APS/Hughes,GAD,GERD, hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, waiting a chair test for vertigo my medicine alone makes it impossible to function enough to work and without it even with it idk anymore what a good day is anymore. Memory issues bad. And apparently i should be my true self at the drs and act how i feel about these idiots because I can work because I'm respectful at the drs. Damn right iam I need my meds the fact my lazy lawyer only got 2 records after I called to be sure is amazing Cochran forms something else. I beaten and tierd.

I have glaucoma in my left eye and floaters as well.Floaters are tough to deal with they stress me out sometimes especially at the beginning now I have high blood pressure as well because of the floaters and glaucoma. Also back problems from about 20 years of labor work.I have to cut out some stress the only one is work stress.I would rather keep working but my fighting is making me worse now more illnesses are popping up.Also have a bad hip that just without notice slips out.I do not know when it will happen and the next minute it is back again. But dangerous for any physical work.Which is what I have done my whole life.I am going to see about getting checked for pinched nerve as well my neck is tingling and lower back pain and soreness that wraps around to my right hip.Can I win with this list of problems.

  • ELAINE -

I got my SSDI on the first appeal. Do NOT do this without an attorney and plenty of medical/psychiatric paperwork from your doctors.

  • Pug Life -

one problem, all you can find around here in Illinois, is nurse practitioners, or physician assistants!

hi i am 31 and didnt graduate high school was diagnosed with depression,:in 2015 and got denied and only worked at one time in 2010 can i get ssi

  • Ellen Edwards -

Thank you Mr. Castelli, I did all those things. I had an atty from the get go. After the 2nd fail/denial, and the fact the my atty didn't even get my neurosurgeon's notes and my brain surgery information turned in along with my diagnosis from him made a failure in a more magnified and painful way. Then my 3rd attempt I kept on my attorney, made him check, double check, promise that those files got to soc. sec. They didn't. I was told I cannot sue them. SO I got a 4th attorney. Same things asked of him. He also failed to submit these forms. I would have never known this because he went into great detail about the work and the story he told about getting an extension and getting those turned in. I called Soc Sec about starting an entirely new claim as I had a totally different, new medical issue and diagnosis. She had me go over all the medical doctors I see as she checked them off on her list. When I got to my neurosurgeon and his diagnoses, she said "wait wait what are you saying? What is his name? Why don't we have a file on that?" I asked her why she didn't. She said they have never received anything about him. That made me lose 8 years of back pay. I've come within weeks of losing my home twice now. I cannot work. I don't have ANY faith in lawyers. I don't know what I'm going to do. But I thank you for your words of wisdom. If only those had worked for me. Ms. Rare Neuralgias in MN.

  • Ian James -

Would a good Doctor be going to a Psychiatrist if you suffer from Mental Problems more then Physical?

  • Kim Howell -

We had this problem and tried so many things. Different things work for different people and we were lucky enough to find one that worked for us. My husband was legally blind for 5 years, they denied him because he had a college degree and said he could work using it. Excuse me but who will hire a blind man with other health problems like stroke, heart attack, and diabetes. Just shoot me an email at [email protected] com and I'll tell you about how things are going for us with the methods we have tried. I wish someone would have helped us out when we were struggling to find a solution so if I can help you then it would make my day.
